The search is on for a 46-year-old inmate who was reported missing from the Hale Nani Work Reintegration Center in Hilo.

The search is on for a 46-year-old inmate who was reported missing from the Hale Nani Work Reintegration Center in Hilo.

Around 3 a.m. Thursday, inmate Sean Duyser escaped from the center. The Hawaii Police Department and state Department of Public Safety Sheriff Devision were notified and are investigating the escape, according to the state department.

Duyser is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone sees Duyser or knows his whereabouts, should call the Hawaii Police Department at 911 or 935-3311.

Duyser was serving 60 days for third-degree theft. He was supposed to be released on Oct. 20. Once located, he will face an additional escape charge, according to the state department.

Hale Nani is a community based reintegration program located five miles from Hawaii Community Correctional Center. It offers offender reintegration services and a work release program for sentenced inmates who will soon be released on the Island of Hawaii.
